Man Accused In Franklin Killing Hit Woman With Gun: Prosecutor

A New Brunswick man charged in a killing at a Franklin Township park in May now faces additional charges for an attack that took place shortly before the murder, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said.

Najee K. Croom, 27, has been charged with murder and weapons offenses in thr fatal shooting of David D. Anderson in Naaman Williams Park around 11 p.m. May 18. Several people were in the park at the time, authorities said. 

The prosecutor's office said Tuesday that they have since learned that about an hour before Anderson was killed, Croom used a gun to hit a woman in the face, bruising her and causing her to bleed. 

Croom now faces charges of assault and weapons offenses in addition to the earlier charges stemming from Anderson's murder. He was being held in the Middlesex County jail.
